In her culmination dissertation Dr. Stevens wrote that a human life can be colored with pitfalls, hurdles, disappointments, and unexpected devastations. From cradle to grave, humans face varying and seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The question is, why do some overcome these obstacles adaptively when others do not? This clinical research project sought to probe the basic nature of resilience, examining if and how physiological variables of heart rate and heart rate variability contribute to the psychological construct of resilience. In more layman’s terms Dr. Stevens researched the concept “For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7 KJV) and has sought to utilize this research as the founding principles of The R.E.L.I.H.C.
The Vision of The R.E.L.I.H.C. is for those who experience a health imbalance to establish and sustain psychophysiological balance. Thus, the Mission is to treat and when able to cure the psychophysiological issues of all individuals seeking treatment by addressing the etiological imbalance that maybe driving the diagnosis.
